INFO:
Kassala is a former secondary striker and centre forward. His career started in 1970 at Al-Hilal Omdurman. He transferred to Emirati team Al-Nasr in 1976 and remained there until 1982, becoming one of the best foreign players in the history of the club. He eventually returned to Al-Hilal where he retired in 1985. He capped for Sudan throughout the 1970s, taking part to the 1972 African Cup of Nations. He was a member of the 1970 African Cup winning team but he was less than a reserve due to his very young age. While his career was great, it could've been even greater, but Kassala's chose to alternate his footballing career to medicine studies and retired when he wasn't 30 years old yet.
One of the most prominent players in the history of Al-Hilal and Sudan national team, Kassala was distinguished for his dazzling ball control, fantastic passing and skillful dribbling. He was the kind of player who could change the outcome of a match at any moment. Kassala scored his first two goals for Al-Hilal in a match against rivals Al-Merrikh, also providing an assist, as he showed in both occasions his brilliance and speed of execution.
Al-Nasr decided to play a retirement match in Kassala's honour against Kevin Keegan's Southampton. The Sudanese striker scored a wonderful goal and the English legend was surprised that a player with such abilities was retiring at a fairly young age.
