INFO:Husain is a former centre back and occasionally left-back. He played in numerous clubs of Middle East countries. He had the longest spells in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ahli from 2001 to 2003 and Al Nassr from 2013 to 2016; in Bahrain with Al-Ahli Manama in 2003-04 and 2005-06, and Al-Riffa in 2012-13 and from 2016-2018; in Qatari with Umm-Salal from 2009 to 2012. He played also in Kuwait. He capped for Bahrain 161 times (he holds the record for appearances) and scored 10 goals.
Considered one of the most prominent ever Bahraini defenders, Husain was the rock of Bahrain's defensive line and several times the team captain. Throughout his career, he showed high technical quality, and the ability to mark the opposition's most dangerous players. His consistency and skill earned him the interest from Sheffield Wednesday in the early 2000s as the English team was close to sign him. Other than being skilled and defensively capable, Husain possessed a good heading ability due to a solid jump, and a deadly powerful left-footed shot that earned him several goals from long range and free kick. He also scored some penalties.
