Theerathon is a left back or left side midfielder. His career began in 2008 at Rajpracha. He transferred to Buriram United in 2009, playing 285 matches and scoring 23 goals in six seasons and a half, winning four Thai Premier Leagues, four Thai FA Cups, four Thai League Cups, three Toyota Premier Cups, four Kor Royal Cups and a Mekong Club Championship. After two seasons and a half at Muangthong United, he was loaned to Vissel Kōbe in Japan in 2018. He played for Yokohama F·Marinos from 2019 to 2021 before coming back to Buriram United in 2022. He capped for Thailand 68 times, scoring 7 goals, winning the 2016 AFF Championship as well as the 2016 and 2017 King's Cups. He was included in the 2012 AFF Championship Best XI, the 2013 AFC Champions League Dream Team and was named Player of the Year for the 2013 Thai Premier League.
One of Thailand's best defenders in recent memory, Theerathon is a good player, not physically strong, mainly focused on supporting the attack as additional winger, taking advantage of his good stamina. Very able in the ball distribution, he likes delivering accurate, if not notably fast, pinpoint passes from the back or crosses from the opposing half. He's usually in charge of taking free kicks and corners. He's gifted with pace on the ball, technique, dribbling skills and he's capable of overcoming his opponents with several tricks, especially turns. Also a nice shooter, he can give the ball good curling and he occasionally scores from penalty or direct free kick.
