INFO:Ssali is a former goalkeeper. He started his career as a winger at Masindi Artillery in 1972. Following an injury to the team's starting goalkeeper, the coach decided to try Ssali in goal and the move was successful. Therefore, Ssali's role transitioned into goalkeeper. He later played for Simba FC between 1974 and 1979, and Kampala City Council between 1981 and 1988. He represented Uganda from 1975 to 1987 and became the national team's starter in 1976, once again following an injury of the main's goalkeeper.
Widely regarded as Uganda's greatest ever goalkeeper, Ssali won praises throughout his career for his shot-stopping skill, elastic dives, acrobatic saves, game reading ability, and for being excellent at saving penalties. Although he wasn't tall for his role, he was superb one-on-one and could also rely on determination. Furthermore, he was a good game organiser from the back. Ssali's incredible saves were one of the main reason for Uganda's historic second place at the 1978 Africa Cup of Nations.
