INFO:
Obua was a left-winger. His career started in 1967 after Coffee United noticed him one year prior as a student at Manjasi High School. He joined Police United in 1968 where he spent the majority of his career until he left 1977. He then spent one season at Maroons FC in 1978 but was forced to transfer to Kenya in 1979 where he played for Luo Union. He returned to Uganda one year later, once again at Police FC, but his condition wasn't optimal, and so he decided to retire. He came out of retirement in 1983 to play two last years with Villa SC. An Ugandan international in the late 1960s and throughout the 1970s, he scored 24 goals for the national team. He took part to the 1974 and 1976 Africa Cup of Nations but was surprisingly left out of the squad for the 1978 edition that saw Uganda finish runner-up.
Possibly Uganda's greatest ever left-winger and one of the best the country has ever had, Obua was an eccentric winger and leader who made himself known for his powerful shots and artistry on the left wing. His deadly left foot and excellent actions down the flank produced several remarkable moments. He was tough and uncompromising when scoring eye catching goals. His wide range shooting ability was outstanding as much as his abilities in and around the box. Obua's movements were swift and his good dribbling could be a handful for defenders. Additionally, he excelled in set-pieces. His goal scoring ability saw its peak when he became league top scorer in 1977.
