INFO:Ansah was a right-back, equally capable on the left flank. He spent the majority of his career at Hearts of Oak from 1973 to 1986. He then played for Kumapim Stars from 1986 to 1990 and Okwawu United from 1991 to 1993. He represented Ghana from 1975 to 1986, appearing in at least 12 games, scoring not less than 2 goals, and most importantly winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 1978 and 1982.
Nicknamed "Rock of Gibraltar" for his tough, relentless, aggressive, combative and yet uncompromising defending style, Ansah is regarded as one of Ghana's greatest defenders and players overall. His commitment in marking the opponents tightly and sometimes stopping them with bone shaking tackles was unmatched. Hearts of Oak's old fans fondly remember his performance in 1979 against Guinean giants Hafia as he marked with resolution the fearsome Bengally Sylla. Efficient also in the attack, Ansah was a specialist from dead-ball situations, known for his remarkable ability to bend the ball during his trademark powerful free kicks.
